How To Detox and Hydrate For Better Health

Water, water, water!

 Did you know?

Water is involved in every type of cellular process in your body and is necessary for improving as well as maintaining good health. It will keep you hydrated, alert and maintain a healthy balance in your entire body.


How much water should you drink?

Aim to drink half of your body weight in ounces (per day). For example, if you weigh 150lbs you should aim to drink 75 oz of water per day. That is a little over 2 liters.

Try my routine and drink water before going to bed, first thing when you wake up (even before your cup of coffee), and throughout your day.


Detoxifying bonus

Add fresh lemon to your water for extra detoxifying power. Sip on lemon water throughout the day and you’ll help flush out fat, clear up and hydrate your skin, improve digestion, and give a boost to your immune system.

Easy Sugar-Free Kettle Corn Recipe



This is such a fun and easy recipe to try! I was suffering from a mild case of the sweet tooth’s one night when my ever experimenting mind came up with an idea. My sweet tooth was cured in less than 5 minutes and my stomach (and waistline) were happy. Go ahead and wow your friends with this recipe. Sweet and salty, this sugar-free kettle corn one to try.


Sugar-Free Kettle Corn Recipe


1/3 Cup Popcorn kernels
2 Tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp salt
15-20 drops liquid stevia (or 2-3 packets powdered stevia)



Heat the oil in a 3-quart saucepan on medium high heat.

Add stevia and salt.

Put 3 or 4 popcorn kernels into the oil and cover the pan.

When the kernels pop, add the rest of the 1/3 cup of popcorn kernels in an even layer. Cover, remove from heat and count 30 seconds.

This method first heats the oil to the right temperature, then waiting 30 seconds brings all of the other kernels to a near-popping temperature so that when they are put back on the heat, they all pop close to the same time.

Return the pan to the heat. The popcorn should begin popping soon, and all at once. Once the popping really starts going, gently shake the pan by moving it back and forth over the burner. Try to keep the lid slightly off set to let the steam out (the popcorn will be drier and crisper this way). Once the popping slows to several seconds between pops, remove the pan from the heat, remove the lid, and dump the popcorn immediately into a big bowl.

Make That Coffee Work For You

Healthy Coffee Recipe:



 Freshly brewed Organic Coffee

2 tsp Coconut oil

1/4 c Coconut, Almond or Hemp milk

Liquid Stevia to your liking (Hazelnut flavor is my favorite)

Ground Cinnamon (or 1 whole cinnamon stick)



 Leaving a little extra room at the top, pour your freshly brewed coffee into your favorite mug. Add your coconut oil, stevia and beauty milk of choice. Stir. Sprinkle with a dash of cinnamon or, if you want to feel extra fancy, add an entire cinnamon stick. Enjoy!

Incorporating fresh produce into your diet is essential for optimal health, but the pesticide coating on many healthy fruits and vegetables is a cause for concern. Earlier this year The Environmental Working Group (EWG), the nation’s leading environmental health research and advocacy organization, released a guide (known as the “dirty dozen” and the “clean 15 Plus”) to help consumers choose the safest produce while avoiding those tested as the most toxic.

Pesticide Exposure, Whats The Big Deal?

Pesticides present real health risks, especially to children and those with current health issues. The EWG points out that there is a growing consensus in the scientific community that small doses of pesticides and other chemicals can have adverse effects on health, especially during vulnerable periods, fetal development and childhood. The toxicity most commonly associated with pesticides include disruptions in the normal functioning of the nervous and endocrine system, and increased risks of cancer.


Knowledge Is Power

It is important to educate yourself on the use of toxic pesticides so you have enough knowledge to protect your health and the health of your loved ones. When you know what to look out for, you can continue to reap every health benefit these nutrient dense fruits and vegetables have to offer, without exposing yourself and your family to toxic chemicals.

Although I strongly believe fresh is best for healthy immune system function and to help heal any type of autoimmune disorder, these fresh foods may also pose a threat to our health if were not educated.

The 2013 “Dirty Dozen Plus

The following “Dirty Dozen Plus” produce had the highest pesticide load, making them the most important to buy organic versions:

  • Apples

Shed Fat, Naturally?

This is quite an interesting concept to most people. Working towards a fat and weight loss goal can seem almost far fetched at times, especially if you are living with a chronic autoimmune disorder. I have to tell you that your health and weight loss goals are achievable. Put in a little effort and you will see amazing health rewards.

I started eating paleo and following the 30 day challenge about 2 weeks go. The paleo diet is known to naturally maximize fat loss, as well as reduce if not eliminate symptoms for people living with an autoimmune disorder.

I am feeling (and looking) better than I had been prior to starting the 30 day challenge and continue to notice a change in my MG (auto-immune disorder) symptoms for the better. I have more energy, I feel stronger, look leaner (I’m loosing body fat, finally!), while eating more and sleeping better.

Green Smoothies Help Myasthenia Gravis Symptoms

Green smoothies (and green juices) have helped keep my Myasthenia Gravis symptoms at bay and may very well have the ability to do the same for you too. I started making (and drinking) these super drinks a little over a year ago. I was doing the best I could after deciding to stop my monthly IVIG treatments but still had MG symptoms. I wasn’t able to walk any type of distance, I experienced daily double vision and had general weakness and fatigue plus a serious lack of energy daily.

Fast forward to now, a little over a year later and the symptoms I experience, especially the lack of energy and daily general exhaustion and fatigue have noticeably improved. I took a leap of faith and tried making these drinks, along with eating better, in hopes of helping my Myasthenia Gravis in one way or another. Well, because of these dietary changes, I am better in the best ways I could have hoped for (next to being totally MG-free anyway). I’m happy to take the noticeable boost in health as it has been a long road of ups and downs trying everything to feel better. Plus, I am equally as happy to share my experience with you because in the best case scenario, some of your MG symptoms improve and at the worst case scenario, you get on the road to being healthier than you were before.

Both are great options for a health boost. If choosing between the two, I would rather make a green smoothie on daily basis, and I do! I also add a green juice to my routine once a week and would defiantly recommend it.

  • Green Smoothie: Blended dark leafy greens with other vegetables or fruit with a liquid and ice.
  • Green Juice: Dark leafy green and other veggies and fruits go through a physical juicing machine, which pulls the fiber away from the starch/sugar.
